| Assignment description:
For this project, you are to create a drawing of yourself. It can be just your face, shoulders and head, full body, etc. You may work from life (using a mirror) or from a photograph. The focus of the drawing should be your portrait. Try to fill the space and have a nice balanced composition. If there is negative space around you, do something creative with the background. The background setting can be anything, make it a space of significance for you. Before you start the final drawing, brainstorm ideas for the project and do some quick thumbnail sketches in your sketchbook to help you come up with a successful composition, placement of yourself, angle, arrangement of things. Try to capture your personality and physical characteristics (this can be achieve in expressive mark making, expression of your face, posture, setting) Focus on strong composition, proper proportion, and a full range of values. |
