Repetition of an Object of Personal Significance |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Assignment description:
Compose a drawing that utilizes the organizational principle of repetition. Start by choosing an object that has meaning to you. Do some brainstorming and sketches of the object. By repeating this object, you will want to create a successful and balanced composition with a focus on contour line. Think about the principles that come into play (variety, movement, balance, proportion, dominance, etc.). Does one of the objects have more focus than others? Play with scale and orientation so that there are various angles and sizes of the object. Play with space. Think about spatial indicators: overlapping, size/position on the picture plane, clarity/nonclarity, amount of detail, etc. Don’t let the edges of your picture plane limit the composition. Let objects spill off of the page - this will allow for a more dynamic composition. |
