| Assignment description: Find an interesting subject to study for this drawing. It should be made of several parts, have an intriguing shape, and lend itself to being studied. In your sketchbook, make several studies of the object - details and different views of the entire form. You may even want to use a magnifying glass to capture the details. Enlarging the form and studying its various parts reveals a level of structure and detail that is otherwise invisible to us. Your final drawing should be composed in an interesting way by showing several views of your object and detailed observations of its parts. Create a visual flow through the entire composition by analyzing shapes and building connections between the various parts. Your drawing should have at least one precise image of the entire object. You can also include diagram details, close-ups, and different parts of the object. Examples: a butterfly, pinecone, flower, skull, seed pod, bumble bee, peanuts and their shell, ear of corn with its husk... |
