Magnification Drawing

        Assignment Description:
Choose some small objects to observe and enlarge. You will magnify its detail in proportion to the enlargement. This change of scale could make a large drawing of tiny objects have the impact of an enormous landscape painting. Allow the object you are drawing to fill your composition. As you zoom in, you will notice surface details: small cracks, specks, bumps, hairs, etc. Observe the highlights, textures, and gradation of tones. You will render your drawing in a representational and realistic manner, however, because of the enlargement and increased scale, the final drawing might border abstraction.

Examples to get you thinking: popcorn, pinecones, grass, pebbles, flowers, computer parts, screws, etc.
