Assignment description: These still-life drawings focus on value. Dramatic lighting is set up to create more intense shadows and highlights on the still life objects. These drawings range from 20 minutes to 6 hours in time. The short (20-30 minutes) value studies have dramatic lighting on only 2 or 3 forms. This exercise helps students to see and quickly respond to the elements of light. The longer drawings are more complicated still-lifes. Here, the students have more time to work on composition and detail. |
